Inside Gracie’s Wine World: Trefethen Family Vineyards

August 16 we have our final session: Trefethen Family Vineyards. This is a double feature of California Riesling and Merlot.

About Trefethen:
The winery itself dates back to the early days of Napa but its current iteration was established in 1968 originally as a retirement project of Eugene and Catherine Trefethen. Originally the plan was to be just Vintners not winemakers; Their son John had other ideas and began making wine in the family basement and produced the first commercial vintage in 1973. The rest they say is history; the winery is still run by the family today producing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and others from their properties in the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley.

For Sunday’s session we will be joined by 3rd Generation Family Member Lorenzo(Loren) Trefethen who at various times has worked in the cellar, the vineyards, and now coordinates the Sales and Marketing for the winery. Don’t let his current title fool you he knows a bit about winemaking having spent a vintage at Chateau Petrus in Bordeaux.
